Mission

Transform complex health data into a single, intuitive visualization. IRL Health Bar makes understanding your body as simple as glancing at your wrist. I wanted to craft a way to help people get and stay healthy — a design that's motivating without being overwhelming. The app leads with one clear goal, while still finding room for innovative solutions like live-streaming your stats and connecting to other apps.

Technical Highlights

  • Custom Algorithms I developed the health bar calculation by experimenting with my own data to train for, complete, and recover from marathons and ultramarathons — then validated it with active users through interviews and reviews, and keep it current with the latest health trends.
  • SDK and APIs Live stream your health bar anywhere and weave it into the tools you already use — broadcast with OBS, cast it to your Roku, bring it into Zoom calls, browse the web with it in Chrome, and pull it up instantly with Siri.
  • Privacy-First Architecture All health data stays secure on-device. When you share or live-stream, high-level share codes send only your health bar percentage — never your underlying health data.
  • HealthKit Integration HealthKit gives IRL Health Bar a private, fast way to present your health data — available even offline. Over time I've integrated emerging health stats and added charts that turn complex health data into detailed yet simple-to-understand views, helping you stay on track with your goals.
  • Full Accessibility The entire app supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, differentiate without color alone, Dark Interface, and a wheelchair toggle that swaps step-based metrics for accessible alternatives. After a live pitch of my app at Austin Creative Mornings, an audience member told me how much she relied on VoiceOver — and how many popular apps don't fully support the features crucial to her core experience. Since then, I've put real care into crafting fully accessible solutions throughout the app.
  • Up to date with every watchOS release IRL Health Bar — formerly called Stamina Bar — received its biggest design update in watchOS 10, adopting the system's new full-screen gradient backgrounds and an improved pagination layout. watchOS 11 followed with better watch face support and Live Activities for the Smart Stack, making the app useful without even opening it. In watchOS 26, I brought the new Liquid Glass design throughout the app. And in watchOS 27, I integrated Siri intents, so you can ask about your health bar and the stats or trends behind it.

I've played table tennis in real life for 10+ years, and that passion for the game is what drew me to assist a Staff iOS Engineer on Ping Pong Club — contributing across the product roadmap, QA testing, and day-to-day feature development.
